Frequently Asked Questions
What is a 3D/4D ultrasound?
A 3D ultrasound creates detailed still images of your baby, while a 4D ultrasound lets you see real-time movement, including stretches, yawns, smiles and kicks. It’s a special bonding experience designed to help families connect with baby before birth.
What’s the difference between 3D, 4D and HD ultrasound?
Each option offers a unique way to experience your baby before delivery:
- 3D ultrasound: detailed still images
- 4D ultrasound: live-motion video imaging
- HD ultrasound: enhanced clarity and realism with more lifelike detail
When is the best time to book?
The ideal timing depends on what you’d like to see. Later in pregnancy, babies have less room to move, which can sometimes affect image quality.
- Gender reveal: 15 to 20 weeks
- Full body views: 18 to 24 weeks
- Detailed facial features: 26 to 32 weeks
Is ultrasound safe for pregnancy?
Yes. Ultrasound technology has been used during pregnancy for decades and uses sound waves, not radiation. Our elective imaging sessions follow established ultrasound safety guidelines.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No referral is required for elective 3D/4D ultrasound appointments. Please note: our sessions are intended for bonding and keepsake experiences and are not a replacement for medical prenatal care.
Can I bring family or friends?
Absolutely. We encourage parents to share the experience with loved ones whenever possible. Partners, grandparents, siblings and close friends are welcome to join your session.
What happens if baby isn’t cooperating?
Sometimes babies like to hide! If visibility is limited due to positioning, we may recommend moving around, drinking water or juice, or scheduling a complimentary revisit depending on your package.
How can I prepare for my appointment?
For the best images, we recommend the following. Hydration can make a significant difference in image clarity.
- Staying well hydrated for several days beforehand
- Having a light snack before your session
- Wearing comfortable two-piece clothing
Can you guarantee clear photos?
Every pregnancy is different, and image quality can vary depending on the factors below. Our team always works to capture the best possible images during your visit.
- Baby’s position
- Placenta placement
- Fluid levels
- Stage of pregnancy
Can you tell me my baby’s gender?
Yes. Gender determination is available starting around 15 to 16 weeks. While accuracy is very high, baby’s position can occasionally make confirmation difficult during early pregnancy.
Are these scans diagnostic?
No. Our sessions are elective and designed for bonding, connection and keepsake imaging. They do not replace medical ultrasounds or prenatal care from your healthcare provider.
How long does an appointment take?
Appointment times vary depending on the package selected, but most sessions last between 15 and 40 minutes.
Will I receive photos or videos?
Yes. Depending on your package, you may receive:
- Printed photos
- Digital images
- Video clips
- Heartbeat recordings
- Keepsake add-ons
Can I book more than one session during pregnancy?
Definitely. Many families visit multiple times throughout pregnancy to experience different stages of baby’s development and growth.
What if I’m expecting twins?
We love twin sessions! Please let us know when booking so we can schedule enough time for your appointment.
How early can you see the baby?
Early pregnancy scans may be available starting around 8 weeks, depending on the package selected. Earlier scans focus more on movement and heartbeat rather than facial detail.
